I did alot of asking around at the gym and searched alot online about narrow grip triceps push downs. They say its great workout for the triceps lateral and medial heads, and i toyed around with my routines to see if it worked. I'm not sure if i should keep this workout as replacement for dumbell kickbacks, could someone give me their expert opinion?

Why not do both? For triceps, I like to do a heavy compound move first like close grip bench or skullcrshers, then pressdowns, then finish up with kickbacks for isolation.

Actually, some people say that tricep pulldowns are the best isolation exercise for the triceps. I read it in an article about the 25 best lifts, and for the triceps the pulldown was the #1. They used some kind of gadget to see how the muscles worked and repsonded to different exercises. But some people say that they dont see much mass gains from this workout. From my experience, I would have to say that this, followed up by close grip benches, overheads, and parallel bar dips makes excellent mass gains.

Personally I use pressdowns as a warmup for triceps and then move onto more basic compound tricep exercises. I seldom do kickbacks for triceps as I feel that there are better exercises for my purposes, and on the other hand QOD loves kick backs and she has very full triceps (but then she is also a genetic mutant!!).
