Well!!!!, Its been a while and my old journal has disappeared somewhere so here's a new one.

Been out of training for about 6 months now, mainly due to getting married, moving house and general laziness.
I've been desperate to get back into the gym, but money has been real tight so I cant really afford to join up again.

There is a new motivation in my life in the form of REALLY wanting to do a certain job, I'm not going to say what it is, just in case for some reason I cant do it.
But it needs a massive amount of fitness and strength.

One of my first goals is to run 2.4k (1.5 miles) in under 12 minutes.

I managed to get to a gym yesterday but it was a really poorly equipped gym and I was unable to get a decent workout done. I only really wanted to go and get a starting benchmark for my lifting and running.

I ran the 2.4k and did it in 19:04 minutes. Not great, but not too bad I don't think for my first attempt.

That really hit home how INCREDIBLY unfit I am. =(

I woke up this morning to get an early morning run in and ran about 1.2k in 12 minutes.
I can see that there is going to be a LOT of hard work getting to where I want to be - but that's what its about right!!!

Me, March 2008 on honeymoon in Egypt
(Feeling very fat, very lazy and very sweaty!)

My new motivation is awesome, I've never felt a drive to get my fat lazy ass of the sofa and outside so I'm pretty chuffed about that, and one day, I hope to look back at this in my new job role and help others reach their goals!

See you all soon!

Decided not to go for a run today as my ankles are a bit sore from the hammering they have taken but determined to do something, and without the cash to get to the gym or any weights at home, I hit the floor =)

Really disappointed in what I managed as last time I did sit ups and press ups I could do sets of 20 but I suppose doing something is always better than nothing.

I managed:

5 press ups
10 sit ups
5 press ups
10 sit ups
5 press ups
5 press ups
20 sit ups

(Then dinner was ready)

Im going back into town tomorrow to buy a small DB set so at least I can get some floor weight work done.

It's all going slow and steady, but one day I'll be back as I was - and better!

Never heard of a press up, what is that? Could it be a push up?

Yeh, press up, push up, tomato tomato hehe

Lying on front and then press up with hands, or push up with hands depending on how you feel Smiley

Bash go and check out some second hand stores, Salvation Army etc for weights, benches etc to get ya started. For our gym QOD found a cambered bench bar (Olympic bar that is designed in such a way as to allow for a greater stretch when benching), and it only cost 50.00 (normal cost for such a bar is upwards of 500.00). Anyway if ya look around you can get set up for next to nothing.

Awesome!!!! LOL

Thinking of big rocks (Jugg you'll know what I'm on about)
There are these large rock spheres going right through our town - they are concreted in, but would make pretty sickening medicine balls!

 - As for getting some 2nd hand kit, I've found some plates on ebay, 40kg for £30 - that dont sound too bad!

Ebay is ok, but shop around at the 2nd hand stores as well as the news paper, and if you have a buy/sell/trade check that out as well (it's kinda like a news paper for used stuff we have here).

Don't forget with Ebay ya gotta pay for shipping and 40kg aint gonna be cheap to ship.
